WELCOME    The IVC Golf Program is looking for dedicated student-athletes who take pride in their school and who are willing to give maximum effort in the classroom and on the golf course. Being a part of the IVC Athletic Program is a privilege, one that carries both responsibilities and rewards.

Each athlete MUST be a registered IVC student for the year of 2017-18. Proof of residency may be requested.

ATHLETIC PAPER-WORK required by the IVC Athletic Department:

• All athletes who wish to participate in school sports, MUST have a valid physical and proof of insurance on file in the Athletic Office.
• A signature packet that covers concussion information, the IHSA steroid testing policy, the IVC random drug testing policy and the District Activity code will need to be signed and returned (available in high school office).

Please return athletic paper-work to the High School Office on or before Aug. 7^th, 2017 to participate in tryouts for the 2017 season.

SEASON START DATE

This year’s golf season will begin on Tuesday, August 8^th at 12:45 pm. Students will meet in front of the high school.

WHAT TO BRING & WEAR

• Wear acceptable golf etiquette attire: collared shirt, khaki shorts, etc.
• You will need your own clubs.
• Bring a water bottle with a sealable top.
• Be well rested!

WHAT COACHES ARE LOOKING FOR    

The coaching staff looks for coachable athletes who have a great work ethic and want to improve their golf game. Prior golf experience or skill helps. The coach will look for the following criteria:

1. ATTITUDE, COACHABILITY, AND APPROACH TO THE GAME.  Players who are positive, competitive and eager to learn.
2. ATHLETIC ABILITY AND POTENTIAL. Players with the ability to learn and perform complex skills.

SELECTED TEAM/PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

• SCHOOL COMES FIRST! Grades must be your first priority.
• Be a TEAM player! Be a good person and a teammate!
• ALL PRACTICES AND MATCHES ARE MANDATORY!
• Be ON TIME (15 mins prior) and READY for practices and games.
• Practices will be held after school Monday through Friday.
• Tournaments will be held on Saturdays. Schedules are on our website (www.greyghostsathletics.com).
• Have a positive attitude.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transport your athlete to IVC and pick up on time for practices and games.
• Provide healthy meals, snacks, and drinks for your athlete.
• Be the BIGGEST fan for your athlete.

TEAM MEETING

A MANDATORY meeting for those selected to the team will be held on Friday, Aug. 18th at Maroon and Grey Night. It is mandatory that at least one parent or guardian and EVERY player attend, as the information presented is vital for participation in our program.
