The sophomore volleyball Ghosts were champions of the recently played IVC frosh/soph tournament. The young Ghosts went undefeated while winning 4 contests without dropping a set in the tourney. IVC started out the day early with a 27-25 and 25-22 win over Richwoods.The kills leaders for the match were Hope Allen and Bella Camp with 7 apiece, while Hannah Horack led in digs with 9 and Allen was the service points leader with 11 that included 2 aces. Match number two saw the Ghosts power past Roanoke Benson by the scores of 25-16 and 25-9. The statistical leaders were Camp with 8 kills and 3 service aces, while Allen led with 9 digs and 12 service points. Match number 3 saw the sophomores blitz Putnam County by the scores of 25-15 and 25-11. Kill leaders were once again Allen and Camp with 4 apiece, Ava Ressler led in digs, while Kylie Fowler was the service points leader with 14 and Jansen Davis served 4 aces. The Ghosts started out the championship match against a spirited Notre Dame squad that produced a seesaw first set which saw IVC come from behind to win 26-24. The second set however saw the Ghosts dominate to ultimately win the tourney in grand fashion 25-12. Hope Allen led with 14 kills, 7 digs and 2 service aces, while Fowler led in service points again with 14.
The sophomore Ghosts won two additional matches last week over Ottawa 25-12, 25-13 and Monticello 26-24, 25-22 which pushed their season record to 13-2.
The Ottawa match saw Camp and Allen lead in kills with 6 apiece, Allen was the digs leader with 9, while Ressler included 4 aces in her 13 service points. The Monticello statistical leaders were Allen with 9 kills, Horack with 12 digs and Fowler had 15 service points that included 4 aces.
